UK urges its nationals in Ukraine to leave the country "immediately"
British Prime Minister Boris Johnson communicated by videoconference the UK's concern about European security.
The UK government on Friday urged Britons residing in Ukraine to leave the territory as soon as possible while commercial flights are available.
Through the website of travel recommendations, the United Kingdom Foreign Office indicated some recommendations for flights to Ukraine.
In addition, he stressed that the British in Ukraine must "get out now."
Boris Johnson, British Prime Minister, declared through a videoconference with other European leaders that he "fears for European security" regarding the crisis on the Ukrainian border.
The British president was part of this meeting that addressed the tension between Ukraine.
This meeting was attended by authorities from NATO, the United States, Poland, France, Romania, Germany, Italy, the European Council, and the European Commission.
The meeting highlighted that it is necessary for the Western allies to highlight the sanctioning measures that will be carried out if Ukraine is invaded by Russia.
The United Kingdom has classified the possible Russian invasion as "destructive and devastating"
Spokesmen for Ukraine's allies assured that diplomatic efforts would be doubled in the coming hours. In turn, they have highlighted that until now there are possibilities of achieving a diplomatic solution only if Russian President Vladimir Putin agrees to reduce his troops.
Johnson assured that the Russian president has to take into account the great sanctions that Russia would suffer if it carries out the attack.
On the other hand, he urged the alliance to continue to support NATO territory and continue to provide defensive support for Ukraine.
Ukrainian media have detailed that the UK embassy in Ukraine continues to operate, however, it is not providing face-to-face consular assistance.
British reinforcement
Ben Wallace, Minister of Defense of the United Kingdom, reportedly announced that 350 military personnel would be sent to Polish territory, in support of the Warsaw area, in response to the "threat" posed by Russian and Belarusian military movements.
In a press conference with the presence of his Polish counterpart, Mariusz Blaszczak, Wallace pointed out that the operation will be carried out in favor of the bilateral agreement between these two nations.
The British troops would join the hundred military engineering specialists that the United Kingdom had already sent in December to contain the migration crisis on the border of Belarus.
The agreement supports the possibility of working together, both outside international organizations and outside of them. The British minister stressed that they are working "shoulder to shoulder" to solve the European crisis.
The ministers discussed bilateral strategies to contain Russia's escalation in Eastern Europe and to develop contingency plans if Russia carries out an invasion of Ukrainian territory.
Regarding the Russian attack, the British minister indicated that it would be a "stupid step" highlighting Ukraine's sovereignty and independence if it had made the decision to join NATO.
On the other hand, the Polish defense minister thanked the British for its prompt response and willingness to carry out the necessary measures to stop the aggression and the threat posed by Russia.
Blaszczak stressed that in order to stop the Russian advance and prevent an attack on Ukraine, a policy of deterrence must be firmly carried out.
