Disney will build residential areas in the United States inspired by its famous films
The project is called "Storyliving by Disney" and the first of these communities will be called "Cotino"
For the first time, Disney will be involved in the construction of a residential complex inspired by its famous films.
The project is called "Storyliving by Disney" and includes the construction of 1,900 homes in an exclusive space, which will be set in the characters of the company.
Although the prices have not been announced, the first of these communities will be called "Cotino".
The construction of "Cotino" will begin this year and will be located in the town of Rancho Mirage, on a land with more than 250 hectares on the outskirts of Palm Springs, California.
It should be noted that Walt Disney owned a home in the Coachella Valley itself to spend his free and inspirational time.
Josh D'Amaro, president of Disney Parks, Experiences and Products, said his job is to turn dreams and stories into reality, into “things you can touch, taste and smell; something they can feel.”
He added that facing new horizons, they seek innovative ways to tell stories and connect with more people, giving them experiences beyond the parks.
What will "Storyliving by Disney" include?
D'Amaro said the housing complex will be the perfect setting for young Disney fans to " write the next chapter of their lives," as well as adults 55 and older.
"Storyliving by Disney" will offer the charm of a small town, mixed with the experience of a resort, since in addition to having addresses, it will include several restaurants, a shopping center, entertainment spaces, a hotel, Clubhouse, and a park Disney in front of an artificial lagoon.
The Disney executive added that some services will require an additional membership from residents.
"We are exploring different locations in the United States to build Disney communities that have the company's DNA and a strong personality," said D'Amaro.
Disney and real estate
While this is the first time Disney has built a "small town," it's not the first time it's entered the real estate market.
Since 1991, there have been Disney Vacation Club timeshare condominiums at Walt Disney World in Florida.
Likewise, in 1996 they opened the doors of the "Celebration" community also in Florida, while in 2011 they inaugurated the luxurious Golden Oak resort in the same state.
