Argentine Guido Pella is already in the quarterfinals at Wimbledon
Guido Pella has achieved a feat. He surprised again and eliminated the Canadian Milos Raonic, 3-6, 4-6, 6-3, 7-6 (3) and 8-6, to achieve his pass to the quarterfinals.
He is the last Argentine in the Wimbledon draw, and has completed the feat of having eliminated two of the last three runners-up in the tennis tournament. He continues to live in a tournament in which six Argentines started, and only he remains.
Live a fabulous moment. And all on his own merit, without being given anything. In a memorable match, the Argentine came from behind from two sets down to beat Milos Raonic in three hours and 44 minutes. An unforgettable day that got into the best eight of Wimbledon for the first time in his career.
His next rival will be the Spanish Roberto Bautista Agut.
Guido Pella's achievement is very important for Argentine tennis. With his victory he became the fourth national tennis player (ATP) to reach the Wimbledon quarterfinals, after Guillermo Vilas (in 1975 and 1976), David Nalbandian (2002 and 2005) and Juan Martín del Potro (2013 and 2018).
Guido Pella reached this instance after achieving a resounding victory against the South African Kevin Anderson, who occupies the eighth place in the world ranking.
His best performance in Grand Slams had so far been the 3rd round of Wimbledon and the 2018 US Open. With today's, the Argentine registered his third victory against a Top 20 player (the others were against Anderson and Marin Cilic, last year in the England).
