Russian colonel was run over by his soldiers
Yuri Medvedev was run over by his troops in reaction to the heavy casualties the Russian army has sustained.
The British media have assured that the colonel, who is responsible for the 37th Motorized Brigade, was run over by a war tank.
The same media have indicated that the colonel had died, but the discharge has not been confirmed by the Kremlin authorities.
The Chechen leader, Ramzan Kadirov, published a video on his social networks showing the rescue of Colonel Medvedev, wounded but still with vital signs.
Kadirov claims that the colonel was wounded in battle for control of a settlement and his soldiers managed to evacuate him.
In addition, he added that he was transferred to a place far from the clashes after the soldiers gave him first aid.
NATO estimates
The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) released an estimate that more than 40,000 Russian soldiers have been wounded, killed or captured during the first month of Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
A senior NATO official, who requested anonymity, revealed to the Western media the numbers estimated by the Alliance, noting that between 7,000 and 15,000 Kremlin soldiers have been killed in the war.
This estimate agrees with that announced by US intelligence, which indicated the number of casualties in Russian troops is between 7,000 and 10,000 soldiers.
A US defense official told the media that it was difficult for them to give a more exact number of Russian casualties because the United States has no soldiers on Ukrainian soil.
In addition, the official, who declined to be identified, pointed out that the ranges in the estimates are very wide, therefore, there is little confidence in the estimates indicated.
However, the official confirmed that Russia's troops are presenting logistical obstacles and have low morale.
Also, I emphasize that, in many cases, Russian soldiers have withdrawn due to low temperatures. In addition, he pointed out that the Russian army has suffered desertions due to low morale, which has forced them to retreat into the forests.
Russian estimate
The figures announced by NATO were revealed the same week a pro-Russian newspaper reported that around 10,000 Kremlin soldiers had been killed in the war.
Citing official data from the Russian Ministry of Defense, where they indicated that 9,861 soldiers had died in battle and more than 16,000 had been wounded. Hours later, the story was removed.
On repeated occasions, the Kremlin authorities have refused to reveal the exact numbers of casualties in the conflict in Ukraine.
This Tuesday, the Kremlin spokesman, Dmitry Peskov, assured that publishing these figures would go against the objectives of the Russian Defense Ministry.
The Russian invasion of Ukraine began on February 24, with the largest military deployment in Europe since World War II.
However, the Ukrainian armed forces have presented a high resistance to the Russian troops.
Reports have been published of thousands of destroyed Russian tanks and soldiers frozen for not wearing proper equipment.
For their part, the Ukrainian authorities have assured that they have killed six generals of the Russian forces. From Ukraine they assure that the bad communication has left the commanders of the military troops highly exposed.
