Apple Inc suspends Siri consultation and enhancement program

Apple Inc, published this Friday that the evaluation and improvement service through Siri consultations will be suspended. The reasons are because the employees of the company listen to less than 1% of the queries generated to improve the assistant.

Bloomberg News made several publications at the beginning of this 2019, ensuring that Amazon.com Inc. and Apple had specialized teams only in analyzing recordings.

The Guardian reported that Apple workers said they often hear about sex, drug deals and confidential medical information. "We want to offer a great Siri experience while protecting user privacy," Apple said.

"While we conduct a comprehensive review, we are suspending the evaluation of Siri globally. Also, as part of a future software update, users will have the ability to choose whether to participate in the evaluation," Apple said.

The European Union is the most interested in keeping the population with absolute privacy. They are the ones that are mostly regulating these actions. In the wake of constant complaints about the privacy breach, a senior German executive has banned Google employees and workers from transcribing voice recordings of domestic helpers.

A Hamburg agency reported on August 1 that Google agreed to a three-month ceasefire while it investigates whether the practice complies with the EU General Data Protection Regulation.

Apple's Siri also has human assistants, who work to assess whether the interpretation of the digital assistant's requests matches what the person said. Although, supposedly, the recordings they review lack sensitive information, they are stored for six months linked to a random identifier, that is, it does not specify the type of user, according to an Apple security document.
