Former Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe dies at 95

The end of the Robert Mugabe era has come. For 37 years he remained in power in Zimbabwe, but after a military coup he was stripped of his position. The 95-year-old man died at Gleneagles Hospital in Singapore from illness. However, his life was surrounded by many luxuries and his last years were lived in comfort.

President Emmerson Mnangagwa was in charge of breaking the news of Mugabe's death. Emmerson Mnangagwa always accompanied Mugabe during his takeover, but he was responsible for carrying out the coup in 2017.

However, in the statement he expresses his sadness and calls him the "founding father of Zimbabwe" and also referred to him as a symbol of liberation. Robert Mugabe was a professor by profession, but just when he was studying he participated in the founding of ZANU, which means Zimbabwe National African Union, in 1963. But it was only until 1980 that they achieved independence from the racist regime of Ian Smith.

Robert Mugabe is most allegedly responsible for the deaths of 20,000 people in Ndebele. This was a sign that a new regime had begun and that it remained in power throughout the years. In 2000, he ordered that all farms owned by white people be expropriated.

In 2008, with a country in crisis, without an economy and with many doubts about his election, the questions began to overthrow him from power. Hyperinflation reached 79,600,000,000%, which caused an irreversible national crisis.

Emmerson Mnangagwa, who was the vice president, orchestrated the coup in 2017. However, new elections were held in 2018, where Mnangagwa was the winner and currently rules the country.
