Farruko will be recognized at Premio Lo Nuestro for his contribution to urban music
The gala will be held this Thursday, February 24 in the city of Miami
The Univisión network announced that Puerto Rican Carlos Efrén Reyes, better known as Farruko, will be specially awarded the "Urban Excellence" award at the Premio Lo Nuestro celebration.
The gala will be held this Thursday, February 24, in the city of Miami, USA, and the urban music singer will be honored for his "contributions to the genre, constant evolution and leadership in incorporating new styles into his music," highlighted the organizing chain of these awards.
The announcement was made after Farruko, who now prefers to be called Carlos Efrén, changed the style and tone of his concerts, giving them a Christian and spiritual touch.
A fact that generated controversy among his followers, but he also had the support of many fans and colleagues in the industry, who consider that this change is positive for him and for those who enjoy his music.
Farruko recently made headlines around the world by refusing to sing his popular song "Pepas" at one of his concerts in Miami. The artist explained that the lyrics subliminally encourage drug use and it is something he is not proud of.
Even through his Instagram account, he expressed that the content of his shows is his decision and that each artist is free to express themselves and act on stage as they see fit.
Likewise, the artist assured that he will continue to fulfill the commitments of his label, but will bet on "music that carries another message," he emphasized.
The singer's participation in Premio Lo Nuestro will be accompanied by Pedro Capó and Oneill, where they will perform a potpourri of melodies, which will include "El Incomprendido", "Gracias", "Ki" and "Pepas", although he will probably not perform the chorus of this last.
Other Latin music celebrities will be at the awards, and the characters that will deliver some awards will be: Camilo, J Balvin and Cristian Nodal, who are the favorites, with 10 nominations each.
Bad Bunny and Karol G are also favorites, each with 9 nominations, followed by Caliber 50, Carlos Rivera, Jhay Cortez, Farruko, Maluma, Myke Towers and Rauw Alejandro, who have nominations in 8 categories.
