Ukrainian ambassador to Turkey calls for limiting access to Russian warships
Turkish Foreign Ministry asks its citizens in Ukraine to stay safe at home and avoid travel.
Vasila Bodnar, Ukraine's ambassador to Turkey, calls for an " alliance against Putin " in order to prevent the war from spreading.
It also demands that the access of Russian warships in the Dardanelles and Bosporus straits be limited, after Vladimir Putin, the Russian president, ordered the start of the military operation in Ukraine.
The ambassador declared at a press conference that the Ukrainian authorities formally requested the Turkish government to agree to the closure of airspace and straits to Russia.
In addition, a complaint was made, since this is the first time that a country fully endowed with nuclear weapons issued an open attack against another country, starting the war.
Bodnar insisted that they want sanctions against Russia to be issued and the assets of Russian companies on Ukrainian territory to be seized.
He added that he hopes that Turkey will provide support to Ukrainian citizens who request security and protection.
Likewise, the ambassador indicated that Ukraine is being attacked from all fronts, including the Belarusian border.
So far Moscow has not commented on the loss of five downed Russian planes and two helicopters.
Vasila Bodnar called on the world to create an alliance against Putin, to prevent the war from spreading. At the moment, the situation is being controlled by the state security system.
He insists that the international community would be of great help, as would the Ukrainian Army and Ukrainian society. The ambassador hopes that the war will be won, but he is also sure that this day will never be forgotten, since February 24 is the day of true world change.
At the moment , the Turkish government has not issued any statement regarding Kiev's request. However, a security meeting has been held in accordance with Recep Tayyip Erdogan, President of Turkey, in the company of the Ministers of the Interior and Defense, Intelligence services and Army chiefs.
The Turkish Foreign Ministry, through a statement, has demanded that Turkish citizens living in Ukraine remain in their homes, since the airspace remains closed and it is important to avoid travel.
