La Chilindrina entered the Guinness Book of Records

María Antonieta de las Nieves, was recognized for being the oldest actress with a child character

Thousands of generations for more than four decades have been captivated by the antics of the mischievous Chilindrina, a character played by the actress María Antonieta de las Nieves, who recently entered the Guinness World Book of Records.

The award was given for being the actress with the longest career playing the same character, the naughty girl who became known through the famous series "El Chavo del 8". De las Nieves has been La Chilindrina for 48 years and 261 days specifically.

The recognition came to the actress on October 20, however, the information was made public this Wednesday, November 10 through the interpreter's Instagram account.

Guinness World Records Official Adjudicator Carlos Tapia presented the award to La Chilindrina along with a copy of the GWR2022 edition of the book.

The adjudicator said during the delivery that La Chilindrina is recognized in Latin America, and a large part of the countries of the world ; Therefore, he asserted that the experience of the actress is unquestionable, which is demonstrated through the recognition of generations over more than 40 years.

“With great honor, Guinness World Records certifies María Antonieta de las Nieves 'La Chilindrina' with the title of record for the longest professional career of an actress playing the same child character,” said Carlos Tapia.

In response, the 70-year-old actress thanked for the recognition, and expressed that this is due “to my Chilindrina. It fills me with joy and satisfaction”, he expressed.

The mischievous girl, daughter of the remembered Don Ramón in that humble neighborhood, has toured Latin America and the United States with the famous show “El Circo de la Chilindrina”, and has received many tributes, awards and recognitions as best comedian. In addition to this, he has recorded 17 discs of children's music.

An actress with a vocation

Marie Antoinette de las Nieves began in the world of the arts at an early age.

When she was just a child, she entered the Palacio de Bellas Artes de México where she played dramatic characters, and at the age of seven came her great opportunity to participate in the movie “Thumbelina”, with the character of Flor, one of the ogre's daughters.

Later, she is hired by Televisa, one of the main television channels in Mexico; on this floor he dubbed American movies and series, until he was given the opportunity to play characters in soap operas.

But it was not until 1971, when De Las Nieves had the opportunity to live, when she was invited to participate in the Roberto Gómez Bolaños series "El Chavo del 8", and where she developed the character of La Chilindrina, which had created three years before starting the project.

The character of La Chilindrina was so popular with the public, that she allowed her to have her own series on the Mexican channel, called "Here is the Chilindrina", in addition to that she had a movie titled "La Chilindrina in distress."
