The president of the United States, Joe Biden, is talking with his government about reducing the sanctions imposed, with the sole objective of Venezuela increasing oil production and being able to sell it on the international market and be able to increase the country's economy.

This measure that Biden wants to put in place has only one objective and that is to be able to make Venezuela independent, to be able to reduce Venezuela's dependence on Russia on oil.

Some of Biden's officials, including the director of the National Security Council for the Western Hemisphere, Juan González, and the US presidential envoy, Rogers Carstens, were all sent to Caracas this weekend to discuss the aforementioned oil issue. and the sanctions imposed on Venezuela, and to be able to talk about the US citizens who are currently in Venezuela.

Sanctions imposed by the United States on Venezuela

In 2019 Washington put sanctions on Venezuela with respect to oil, also in that same year the United States closed its embassy in Caracas, because they considered that the elections in 2018 in favor of Nicolás Maduro had been a fraud.

In recent months, the Biden administration has sought ways to somewhat reduce the world's dependence on Russian oil and gases, and to reduce sanctions against Venezuela.

They are also considering a trip to Saudi Arabia by the Biden administration. US officials think that Venezuela could replace a large chunk of lost supply by isolating Russia and making it easier for the US and other allied countries to ban the import of Russian oil.

Criticism of Republican Marco Rubio

Senator Marco Rubio criticized the discussions where he tweeted during this weekend that:

"Instead of producing more American oil," Biden "wants to replace the oil we bought from a dictator."

The secretary, Antony Blinken, said this weekend:

"The United States and its allies were actively exploring ways to ban Russian oil imports, which would further damage the Russian economy."
