This former porn star scammed out of $1.8 million in NFT
The world of NFTs surprises us more every day, unfortunately not in the way we would like. Recently, it became known that a former porn star would have participated in the scam of some 1.8 million dollars in NFT assets.
The project in question is CryptoSis, which is a collection of non-fungible tokens (images) about former adult film actress Lana Rohades. This complaint adds to the thousands of scams that have occurred around the world of NFTs in recent months.
What is CryptoSis?
CryptoSis is an NFT project pioneered by former porn star Lana Rohades, which consisted of the sale of 6,069 images of her. The project was carried out in several stages, in each of the presales that were carried out, everything was sold.
Even though Rohades was the face of the project, she was not alone, as there were at least two other people behind the project. However, because she was a "celebrity" and had the affection of her followers, she was able to carry out the project.
The NFTs were simply different cartoon photos of Rohades in various poses and outfits. The sale of the NFTs was a complete success and raised almost 1.8 million dollars, which ended up disappearing.
How did the scam happen?
Initially, these tokens were worth 0.1 ETH and were traded through OpenSea. For some time, the former actress with more than 1.5 million followers was in charge of convincing people to invest in her project.
For weeks she assured investors that in months the price of her NFTs would increase exponentially. However, from one day to the next, Rohades assured that it was no longer certain that investors would make a profit.
In fact, she said she wasn't sure she could pay back the investment. This was a red flag for everyone, but there were still many people trusting the project.
After these statements, the youtuber Coffeezilla accused the project of being a scam and that the former actress had defrauded thousands of people. Rohades responded in a somewhat aggressive way towards the youtuber and assured that she no longer wanted to have anything to do with the NFTs.
Additionally, the former actress hinted that she would keep the funds, since she had to pay the team that was in charge of developing it. A short time later she closed her Twitter account and withdrew the funds from the liquidity.
Right now, NFTs are worth next to nothing and more than 6,000 investors saw their investment disappear. So far, Rohades has not said anything about what happened and not much is known about the future of the project.
