Tom Cruise to star in Top Gun Maverick

Tom Cruise made a surprise appearance at San Diego Comic-Con on Thursday to promote the upcoming "Top Gun: Maverick."

Joe Kosinski, director of "Oblivion" is directing the film, a sequel to 1986's "Top Gun," from a screenplay by Peter Craig, Justin Marks and Eric Warren Singer. Jerry Bruckheimer, who produced the first film with the late Don Simpson, will produce with Cruise and Skydance CEO David Ellison.

The trailer is scenes of nostalgia peppered with flat stunts. This time it starts in a desert, with a speed test going through the sand.
