US administration requests investigation of Donald Trump for theft of documents
Department of Justice continues to analyze the petition to make a decision
The former president of the United States, Donald Trump, took several boxes from the White House in which they contained important documents. For this reason, the US National Archives and Records Administration requires the Department of Justice to conduct an investigation.
In January, after recovering 15 boxes of articles and documents, the National Archives made the request. Among the documents that were at Trump's residence, located in Mar-a-Lago, Florida, are some letters from North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.
By taking these boxes, Trump raises questions, raising the possibility of violating the Presidential Records Act, which requires the protection of such documents, even though the National Archives' ability to enact the legislation is restricted.
Trump advisers anonymously told The Washington Post that the boxes the former president took contained letters from world leaders, correspondence and gifts. However, they rejected the idea that the former president carried out malicious acts.
During the bilateral thaw, Trump received a correspondence from the North Korean leader, which he called "love letters", said letter is among the named documents.
There is also a letter made by his predecessor Barack Obama, who left it in the Oval Office.
The Washington Post assures that the National Archives was not Trump's only problem. He was constantly ripping pieces of official documents that were sent to that agency to pieces.
Some documents received by the committee of the Lower House last month, are with the files that had to be covered with cellophane . The Lower House is in charge of carrying out investigative work for the assault on the Capitol in January of last year.
Up to three years in prison indicates the Law, for people who do malicious acts at the time of destroying or keeping certain documents hidden. However, proving this is difficult, as experts doubt they will take action on what Donald Trump did.
