Steps to create a scented candle for Christmas
1. Heat the paraffin together with the stearin
The paraffin is the base for your candle, this you must melt it well in a bain-marie stirring with a wooden spoon. The amount will depend on the size of the candle you will make and the number of candles you want to take out.
After the paraffin is completely melted, add the stearin, keeping in mind that for every 1 kl of paraffin you will need 10% stearin to have a quality candle.
When the second ingredient is incorporated, the melting process continues, mixing with the paddle.
Stearin is an ingredient that cannot be lacking in your preparation, since it will allow your candle to have greater durability and firmness, as well as helping in the mixing and melting process, eliminating lumps.
2. Add the scent
The aroma is added while the substance of the candle is still in a Maria bath, maintaining the mixing process.
Among the essences that you can use for Christmas decorative candles are apple, cinnamon, tangerine, vanilla and pine.
3. Pigment
The colors are part of the Christmas feeling, so it uses paraffin pigment during the mixing process.
You can use colors like red, green, white and yellow, however, there are other colors with which you can make incredible designs, such as blue, pink, purple, silver or gold.
If you want to create colorful designs on your candle, you should bear in mind that you must use other containers in a double boiler with the mixture of the candles, to which you can place the other colors.
If you have other elements that you want to appear in the candles, such as frosts, figures and even dried fruit, this is the time to place it, while the substance is still hot.
4. Pour and let cool
Once you have the mixture ready, and still hot, you must turn off the flame and lower it from the Maria bath, and then quickly find the candle mold.
You can choose the mold you want, from squares, small with figures and cylindrical, which are the classics.
Before you pour the mixture, prepare over the opening of the mold, a toothpick that holds the wick or wick hanging. Then pour the mixture into the mold and let it cool.
It is advisable to leave it in the mold for a full day, thus ensuring that it is completely firm to unmold.
5. Unmold
Once the waiting time has been reached, proceed with a spatula to remove the edges, gently peeling off the walls of the mold, then turn the mold over and hold the candle with your hand in the opening.
Once removed from the mold you can proceed to decorate your candle or make it part of other decorations in your home.
