The Daily Star reported that Valeriia was in a car with two other people, including her driver, waiting for the Russian convoy to pass. Just then, one of the tanks fired directly at the car, killing all three of them.
Jamey Butcher, CEO of Chemonics, explained that Valeriia was his employee and that she was killed in a town west of Kiev while looking for medicine for her mother.
Also, Samantha Power, USAID administrator reported that all the people who were in the car died in the attack.
Power said she was deeply saddened to share in the death of Valeriia, who in life was a proud Ukrainian and USAID 's beloved implementing partner. He added that she was a brilliant and compassionate leader in building the fight against disinformation and social cohesion.
She concluded by saying that the Russian army murdered her, a few days after her 32nd birthday.
