Real Madrid and Barcelona affected by positive cases of Covid-19
This Wednesday, Real Madrid announced to the press four positive cases of coronavirus in first-team players. Right now LaLiga is still affected by the large number of positive cases that have been experienced in recent weeks.
This is how Real Madrid and FC Barcelona are being seriously affected by this, especially Xavi Hernández's team that continues to have everything uphill. The greatest concern for both clubs is that more infected players could appear in the coming days.
Taking into account that this new variant called omicron is highly contagious, so all LaLiga clubs are on alert. Many assure that if this continues, the tournament could even be suspended for a few weeks.
Four positive cases at Real Madrid
After the Christmas holidays, the Florentino Pérez team has announced four positive players for coronavirus, this time it is the Brazilian Vinicius Junior, the Uruguayan Fede Valverde, the Frenchman Eduardo Camavinga and the Belgian Thibaut Courtois, who will be out for the first match of the 2022 against the Getafe club.
This situation has put the white team on alarm, since they have lost four key players in their tactical scheme and also, they know that it is very possible that in the coming days new positive cases will be known within the squad.
Considering this, Real Madrid has subjected all its players to a PCR test after the return from the holidays, for now there have only been four players, but we have to wait for the rest of the squad to arrive. It should be noted three of the four players were traveling during these vacations.
In the case of Courtois he traveled to Dubai, while Valverde to Argentina and the Brazilian Vinicius to Miami.
So with these four positive cases the list of Real Madrid is lengthened, where right now it already has 10 players suspended by Covid-19.
This list is made up of the players Bale, Lunin, Marcelo, Rodrygo, Modric, Alaba, Asensio, Isco, Camavinga, Courtois, Vinicius and Valverde. All this situation has forced the Whites to have to make many substitutions for their first game of the new year.
So it is not easy for the Italian coach to get a positive result and continue to gain distance in the Spanish league. Real Madrid's next game will be on Sunday, January 2, 2022, against Getafe at the Alfonso Pérez Coliseum.
Change in the white goal
This seemed to be a decision that Carlos Ancelotti would never make, since basically since the arrival of the Italian coach to the white bench, the goal has had only one owner, and it has been Courtois. However, for reasons external to the team, this decision will change for the beginning of the new year.
In such a way, that the goal of Real Madrid will be changing owners, so it is the turn of Adriy Lunin, who has not appeared as a starter in the team since that elimination against Alcoyano for the King's Cup a year ago.
To all this, the Belgian player and immovable goalkeeper of Real Madrid has lamented this situation through his social networks where he has expressed the following:
"Unfortunately, and despite complying with all the necessary security measures, I have tested positive for Covid-19 in the last control. I do not present any symptoms, but I am at home following the corresponding quarantine protocol and training to return as soon as possible ".
New casualties at FC Barcelona
Everything seems to indicate that he plays against Barcelona, that is how now the Barcelona team has announced three new positive cases in its first team, so the Catalan club already has seven players affected by this virus and practically all of them from the eleven holder.
Not only is the COVID-19 a factor that plays against those of Xavi Hernandez, but the number of injuries affects him much more. This Wednesday the Catalan club has released the news that Gavi, Samuel Umtiti and Osusmane Dembélé have tested positive for coronavirus.
So now it has become much more difficult for Xavi to face what will be his first game in 2022 against Mallorca, so he will have to plan things very well and hope that in these next few days no more positive cases are known, so everyone in Barcelona is with the alarms on.
The Barça club has communicated through their official accounts that all the players are in very good health and are serving the quarantine from their homes.
So far, those affected by the coronavirus in the Catalan club are Jordi Alba, Dani Alves, Lenglet, Abde, Dembélé, Umtiti and Gavi.
Clearly this situation of the new Covid-19 outbreak is seriously affecting Spanish clubs, this is how the two largest teams in Spain will have to start 2022 with many casualties.
