Amazon will start operating in Colombia
It is the first branch that the sales giant will open in South America
The US company focused on e-commerce announced that it wants to expand its operations in five new countries, including Colombia; operations that will start from 2023.
This new branch will offer 600 jobs, physical and virtual offices, in addition to scheduled service 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
With this new challenge, Amazon will face companies like Mercado Libre, which is in all of Central and South America.
It was learned that the project will begin in Colombia in February 2013. The official announcement of Amazon's arrival in this country confirms the rumors that show the way for the opening of other branches in countries such as Chile and Argentina.
In the statement that the company sent to BBC Mundo, the company highlighted its satisfaction with the new project, but did not indicate the labor terms with which its employees will be hired.
"We are delighted to invest this year in Bogotá and to work with such qualified people in Colombia, who will bring high levels of experience and passion for their work," said the note from Tom Weiland, vice president of customer service, Amazon, to world level.
