The United States and Russia conclude talks in Geneva on the border crisis in Ukraine
The United States and Russia had a conversation due to the crisis on the border of Ukraine, the conversation ended at 4:32 local time on Monday.
American and Russian officials had direct talks about the troop surge on the Ukrainian border, raising the fear of a Russian invasion as a result. This was not the end of the meeting held on Monday, the issue is still tense, and it is expected that it will take months to clarify the issue of the border between Ukraine and Russia.
United States statement
"The United States is committed to the principle of nothing about you, without you when it comes to the security of our European allies and partners, including Ukraine," the spokesman said.
"We are committed at all levels to our allies and partners, and we will continue to be in the days and weeks to come."
The United States has not seen moving away from the talks with Russia and even if any of the Kremlin officials announce positions during the talks this week, although for the United States they are not fundamental, since Russia raised positions that are not considered and others have debated things that hopefully can be investigated and worked towards positive progress, so announced the Deputy Minister of Homeland Security, Jon Finer.
Russian requirements
Russia a week before the talks with the United States, made public some demands, including that NATO not expand further east and make a commitment not to admit Ukraine as a new member.
The world community will closely follow the talks between the two countries, as they were announced a bit late with the aim of avoiding a war in the eastern franc of Europe. The Russian delegation this Wednesday is going to meet with Members of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization at the NATO Council in Brussels.
The US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken did not care that he can see any progress. For the United States to see any advance by Russia toward the Ukrainian border, Russia must move away from the threats it poses to Ukraine.
