The government of Spain will allocate 20 billion euros to equality policies
This new plan contemplates four fundamental points, such as Economy for life and fair distribution of wealth, good governance, female lives, free from sexist violence, and effective rights for all women.
With regard to the commemoration of the month of women, the Council of Ministers of Spain approved the implementation of the III Strategic Plan for Effective Equality between Men and Women.
Designed by the Women's Institute of Spain, the Equality Plan will be in force between 2022 and 2025 and will have a budget of 20 thousand 319 million euros, coming from different ministries.
The objective is clear, to promote feminist policies at all levels of the Spanish Government. In this sense, the Minister of Equality of Spain, Irene Montero, declared that they will work to achieve gender parity.
In addition, it contemplates the implementation of measures aimed at women having time for themselves and being able to fully exercise their rights, as long as the State fulfills a role of co-responsibility.
The Equality Plan includes 49 specific and 141 operational objectives, in 20 work blocks.
It should be noted that since 2016 the European country did not have an Equality Plan, and at that time the allocated budget was 3 thousand 126 million, now six-fold the budgeted amount.
Strategic Plan for Equality in Spain
This new plan contemplates four fundamental points, such as Economy for life and fair distribution of wealth, good governance, female lives free of sexist violence, and effective rights for all women.
Economy for life and fair distribution of wealth
This point will be the one that will receive the most economic resources, with 18 thousand 461 million, which represents 90.9% of the budget.
It will be focused on meeting the needs of women, allocating resources to bonuses for hiring, maternity benefits, and other measures related to income supplements.
Female lives free of sexist violence
Seeking to guarantee female lives free of sexist violence, the Spanish Government will allocate 972 million, 4.8% of the budget, to this point; through which they will apply what is established in international human rights treaties related to combating violence.
In addition, they will strengthen the response system to "always arrive on time" to all women.
Effective rights for all women
As its name indicates, this point will be focused on guaranteeing a country with full rights for all women in all areas. For this, they will allocate 826 million, which represents 4.1% of the general budget of the equality plan.
Good government
This block will receive 59 million euros -0.3% of the budget-, with this they propose to develop more inclusive ways of doing and saying things, taking into account the gender perspective in the Government.
With this plan, Spain advances from 0.1% of GDP to 0.4% in terms of the equality budget, which represents an increase from 1.1% to 4.4% allocated between the years of 2014 to 2016.
