Tunisian President Beji Caïd Essebsi dies at 92
President Essebsi had been seriously ill for a month, in fact there were rumors of his death for days as of June 27, as he did not appear publicly on a daily basis (he was only seen twice in that period), more theories arose about his assumption death, but it is already official that the Tunisian president died at 92 years of age.
President Beji Essebsi took office in 2014 and months ago had made it clear that he does not intend to run for re-election this year, considering that there are generations of relief that could greatly boost the country.
Conflict over new electoral law
Although he had not shown interest in being re-elected, Essebsi had refused to ratify a new electoral law that places certain demands on the presidential nomination, although he did not have what can be considered a bad image before his country, this refusal worried a little to people.
Now that Beji Essebsi has passed away as the acting president of Tunisia, a legal process follows that places the president of the parliament as interim president of the country with the obligation to call elections in the short term, thus guaranteeing the democratic election of the people of Tunisia and the continuity of stability in Tunisia.
