SuperM talks about their success and being BTS's competition in recent Rolling Stone interview
SuperM is in the spotlight around the world, which is why many US media decide to request them to appear on the front page or directly under the platform they manage. Rolling Stone has been one of the last magazines or musical platforms to interview this K-pop group, where the recent success of said boy band would be playing, and, in addition, they would talk about their competition with groups like BLACKPINK and BTS.
In this way, the K-pop group would have talked about how it felt to be competition with these other very successful groups today. Thus, SuperM would be sincere when indicating that they would not seek to compete with their musical genre companions, but rather they would seek to achieve their own recognition through a musical proposal that would break with all kinds of schemes.
SuperM Members Respond About Competing With BLACKPINK And BTS In Interview With Rolling Stone
Taemin has been the first to respond to this whole topic, indicating that SuperM was created to bring something totally fresh to K-pop instead of wanting to compete with groups like BLACKPINK and BTS :
We know that competition exists, and it is something that cannot be avoided, but we do not want to resemble other groups to achieve success. We stick to our own style as a group and seek to bring something totally fresh to the K-pop landscape.
Kai has referred to the great pressure they have on them and the need to overcome new barriers present in the western market. In addition, he has pointed out that they are still a bit unknown despite having an extremely successful career in Asia :
If I said that I don't feel pressured by all this, I would be lying. We come from success, from an established career, but somehow we are unknown, at least when we reach this level. Despite feeling pressured, that is something that makes us feel excited, because we see new goals and ways to surprise.
In this way, all the members of SuperM have agreed that the competition is great, although this would not be a barrier at all. Rather, they would be commenting that all this motivates them to be much better and to give, at all times, the best of themselves.
