Simon Leviev the Tinder scammer
The Israeli who went viral thanks to the Netflix documentary based on his story of multiple scams
His real name is Shimon Hayut, he was born in Bnei Brak, a city located in Tel Aviv, Israel. The story begins when he decides to change his name to impersonate the son of diamond tycoon Lev Leviev.
From the age of 20, he began to show his skills as a swindler, stealing checks from a businessman and a family, for whom he worked as maintenance personnel. The money was used to take flight lessons and buy a Porsche.
In 2011 he was charged with fraud, forgery and theft, but fled to Finland before his trial took place. Some time later, he began to defraud women through social networks, for which he was imprisoned for two years.
The other face of Shimon Hayut
Simon Leviev was a 30-year-old man, heir to the diamond tycoon, who exchanged messages with different women and invited them to a date in a flashy place, most of the cases in a five-star hotel.
The following departures used to be business trips within Europe. He managed to dazzle them with the restaurants, the private plane and the entourage.
Leviev was usually kind, charming, attentive and always spoke of love, proposing a long life together. Every day he sent them loving messages, never lost contact with them and traveled from one country to another to see them for at least an hour.
From one moment to another everything changed
Simon began to receive alleged attacks that forced him to hide and need help from his girlfriend, whom he asked for financial support and assured him that in the end everything would be fine.
With all the girls the outcome was the same, they were tricked and swindled by giving him everything they had. His girlfriend Ayleen Charlotte was in charge of helping with his arrest in 2019, for using a false passport.
Leviev was sentenced to 15 months in prison for the charges filed in 2011, but not for the multiple frauds he carried out through the dating application, because in Israel he had no complaints on those grounds. He only served 5 months in prison for good behavior and is currently free.
Through his Instagram account, he posts pictures enjoying luxury items, sports cars, and his relationship with an Israeli model. On the other hand, Tinder reported in a statement that he was banned from the application for using it to commit fraud.
They assured that they have conducted internal investigations and can assure that Simon Leviev is no longer active under any of his known aliases.
