AMLO assures that the European Parliament is handled with double standards

The president of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, criticized the European Parliament, after he described his nation as one of the most dangerous countries for the press, at the same time that he asked for guarantees for the exercise of journalism.

The European Parliament declared Mexico the most dangerous country for the press.

For Amlo, these statements are not only a lack of respect for his government, but also a paradox, since several nations of the European Union supply Ukraine with weapons, in the midst of the war with Russia.

The president addressed the European parliamentarians and through a statement, expressed the following:

“The State does not violate human rights as it happened in previous governments (…) Mexico is a pacifist country that has opted for non-violence and we are in favor of dialogue, not war; We do not send weapons to any country under any circumstances, as you are doing now."

Similarly, he assured that part of the violence that is currently being experienced is due to "failed" policies of previous governments and that these statements by parliamentarians are due to the fact that they join "like sheep to the reactionary and coup strategy of the corrupt group that opposes the Fourth Transformation, promoted by millions of Mexicans”.

López Obrador again referred to the independence of the Aztec country and assured that it is free from foreign conquest, so that his government is capable of guaranteeing freedom of expression and protecting journalists.

These reactions arise after the European Parliament cataloged Mexico on March 10 as the most dangerous country for journalists without being at war.

At the same time, he urged the Aztec government to take the necessary measures to guarantee the protection of journalists.
