EU to send planes to Ukraine financed with European funds
On the fourth day of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, European countries have supported Ukraine with weapons, medical assistance and money for the defense of the country.
The European Union will financially support allied countries that want to send warplanes to Ukraine to defend the Russian invasion.
Josep Borrell, chief diplomat of the EU, in a video conference with European diplomats, assured that, apart from ammunition and medical assistance, they will finance the sending of combat aircraft to Ukraine.
This measure is taken in response to the proposal of the Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitro Kuleba.
British volunteers to fight Russia
British Foreign Secretary Lizz Truss said on Sunday that the government would lend support to Britons who want to join Ukraine in defending the country.
Assuring that it is a matter of "own decisions", I point out that Ukraine needs the strongest allies in the fight for its freedom and sovereignty, "not only for Ukraine, but for the entire European continent".
The question was asked in an interview on a television network, his affirmative caused great surprise in the United Kingdom, since there is the Foreign Enlistment Act, which prohibits enlisting in an army of another country.
For his part, the Ukrainian president, Volodimir Zelenski, said that they are evaluating the possibility of creating an "international legion of volunteers."
Swedish weapons for Ukraine
From Sweden, they announced the shipment of military equipment and other support measures for Ukraine.
Magdalena Andersson, the country's prime minister, said that for the first time in history, since the Soviet invasion of Finland in 1939, her country would send military support to a country in conflict.
Military support would consist of 5,000 single-use anti-tank launchers, 5,000 bulletproof vests and 5,000 helmets, in addition to 135,000 magazines.
Andersson assures that the security of Sweden and Europe depends on Ukraine's defense capacity.
Sweden's announcement comes after the European Union announced that it would buy military weapons to deliver to Ukraine, a decision that occurs for the first time in history since its foundation.
Separately, Zelensky announced that Belgium will send an additional 3,000 machine guns and 200 anti-tank grenade launchers. In making the announcement, he expressed his gratitude to the country and to the Belgian president "Thank you Alexander De Croo for your leadership."
