After two years, China reaches its highest level of infections
In the country's provinces, the ómicron variant remains present.
This Thursday, China registered 402 new cases of Coronavirus. Although this is a low number compared to the rest of the countries, it is significant for China, since it has the highest number of infections since March 2020.
The largest number of these infected are located in the province of Jilin, in the northeast of the country and in the port city of Qingdao, in the east.
Due to the new cases, Jilin did not announce a lockdown, only instructing its citizens to avoid unnecessary displacement.
While in Qingdao, all the inhabitants of the area where the omicron cases have been detected are undergoing massive tests.
Since the detection of the virus infection at the end of 2019, the strict ' zero COVID ' policy has been maintained, which has successfully contained the pandemic. However, this measure has had a high economic and social cost.
The authorities have declared severe confinement measures in wide escalation, in the appearance of some cases in the regions or cities.
Prime Minister Li Keqiang gave notice on Saturday in his annual address that China should enhance its anti-pandemic measures.
