Benjamin Mendy transferred to probably the harshest prison in the UK
Benjamin Mendy, the French Manchester City footballer, has continued to have a bad dream since he entered jail in September 2021 on seven counts of rape.
The Frenchman has been transferred from the prison where he was held in Liverpool to the HMP prison in Manchester, generally known as Strangeways.
UK prison specialists have approved the footballer's move to a maximum security prison as they feared for a Mendy's well-being and integrity. He was transferred on December 23.
Louis Saha Matturie, the other culprit of the seven assault charges with Mendy, has also been transferred with the player.
The prison authorities guarantee that the sudden change of prison is due to the fear of an attack on the French; because they assure that both Mendy and Saha are transferred because it is a media case.
Allegations without effectiveness
The French defender, had already experienced a situation of insecurity on his first night in Chester jail. Mendy went into a state of shock when he first saw his cell and his companions.
According to sources, due to a misunderstanding caused by the language, he thought he was going to the VIP wing, when in fact, he had been distributed to the VP wing. The latter option was intended to keep prisoners who are vulnerable to attack by other inmates insured.
Benjamin Mendy was suspended from Manchester City without pay, the French World Cup winner has been in pre-trial detention north of Liverpool since 27 August, and since then his defense has documented three requests for parole, all of them denied.
Mendy is currently charged with eight crimes against five different women, including seven assault charges related to four of them.
