5.3 earthquake hits near Athens
Strong earthquakes occurred in Athens, this July 19. The quake had a magnitude of 5.3. And followed by the tremor, replicas with magnitudes close to 4.4 and 2.5 continued to appear.
This earthquake occurs 26 kilometers from Athens (Greece), and is located 2 kilometers deep in the area, says the Euro-Mediterranean Seismological Center (CSEM).
Undoubtedly, this tremor caused panic among the inhabitants of Greece who were forced to take to the streets during the event. Moments of anguish and tension lived the people of the area. Many were trapped in the elevators after the movements, and there were shortages in communication and electricity.
Although this tremor was strong, it did not last for a long period of time. And thanks to this, there were no injured people, but some damage to buildings was evidenced.
