Joe Biden believes there is still a chance of a Russian attack on Ukraine
US President Joe Biden announced last Tuesday that a Russian attack on Ukraine remains likely.
Joe Biden considered it necessary to continue evaluating diplomatic channels to solve the crisis.
The United States has not confirmed that Russian troops have withdrawn from the Ukrainian border, on the contrary, they continue in very threatening positions, according to the US president.
In a press conference at the White House, Biden explained that Russia remains in a position of threat against Ukraine.
In recent months, Russia has deployed more than 150,000 troops along the border with Ukraine and Belarus, where they have staged the largest military exercise in their history.
Joe Biden alleges that he agrees with the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, that diplomacy should be given all the necessary opportunities because there really are ways to reach agreements on the security issue that concerns Russia, Ukraine and the West.
In the middle of his speech, Biden promised that as long as a diplomatic path to solve the crisis and human suffering is possible, they will not rest in continuing with diplomatic attempts.
With regard to Russia, if an invasion of Ukraine is consolidated, the United States would consider this war a war "without cause or reason" which would result in the lives of many innocents for Ukraine and a high economic and political cost for Moscow.
For the United States, a war in Eastern Europe would not be without costs, since an armed conflict would considerably raise energy costs for North America, therefore, the White House seeks to alleviate the pressure on the market and the tension in the conflict.
Biden added that Americans are aware that defending freedom and democracy always has high costs.
According to Biden, the United States will defend every NATO space with all American might and force if Russia attacks countries that currently do belong to NATO.
The Western allies and NATO in the last hours maintain the possibility that Russia, due to historical responsibility, opts for diplomatic channels to preserve world stability.
The US president has also warned that the United States and its allies will have no hesitation in responding forcefully if Russia chooses to invade Ukraine.
On several occasions, different Russian authorities, including President Vladimir Putin, have denied that Moscow intends to invade Ukraine and have classified the enormous military deployment as military exercises within the sovereign territory of Russia.
