Ubisoft Enters the NFT World: Keep Going Despite Criticism
A few days ago the video game company Ubisoft announced that it would enter the NFT market. This was news that was well-received by some people, however it also sparked criticism and complaints from many others.
The world of NFTs has become more and more popular and there are more and more companies and companies looking to get a slice of the market. This time we have Ubisoft who a few days ago announced some Quartz NFTs.
The main objective of the company is to create a metaverse around its games and the first was STALKER 2.
In this game, a series of aesthetic changes (skins) were implemented in NFT format, each complement has an identification number and will be the property of the person who acquires it.
A barrage of complaints from the players
The arrival of the NFTs were not entirely well-received, and the fact is that the players themselves are concerned about the speculation that it could generate, which would make it impossible for players to acquire these skins.
But the complaints have not only come from the players, but some employees are not satisfied with the measure either. Some have even referred to the system as "confusing."
Other people have also shown their discontent, but related to the environmental impact that this can cause.
Let us remember that the blockchain technology on which the NFTs are based requires a large amount of energy. However, this is a technology widely used not only by Ubisoft, but by thousands of companies and billions of people around the world.
Ubisoft does not plan to back down
Many people expected that in the end the company would decide to back down and leave the world of NFTs aside. But that is not what has happened, since according to the own words of Didier Genevois, technical director of the Ubisoft blockchain, the company intends to move forward despite the criticism.
They know that this is a really important change for the company and for the fans. They have listened to everyone's comments and criticisms, however, they are clear that this is the way and that the future of the company lies here.
The company hopes that over time players will become more familiar with NFTs. This sooner or later will lead to the players ending up accepting it and supporting the company's decision.
