Girl is found two years after being kidnapped by her parents

On July 13, 2019, the girl, who was four years old at the time, went missing in Tompkins County, upstate New York. The authorities suspected that the disappearance was due to her parents Kirk Shultis and Kimberly Cooper, for kidnapping her.

Two years later, she was found in a cubicle in the stairwell of her biological parents, who had lost custody of her.

On Monday, a raid was carried out by the New York State Police, after receiving a call in which they reported that the little girl, identified as Paislee Shultis, was in said hidden place about 160 miles west of New York. the village of Cayuda Heights (Tompkins County), in a residence located in Saugerties.

Police moved into the residence Monday night, and the Saugerties homeowner said he hadn't seen the girl since she was reported missing.

After hours of searching, the six-year-old girl was found with her mother in a small cubicle located on the stairs, which lead directly to the basement of the house.

Erik Thiele, the detective in charge of the investigation, noticed something strange on the stairs, he approached and saw a blanket when he turned on the light, located between the steps. For this reason, they make the decision to move the steps with the help of a tool and were able to observe the girl's small feet.

By removing all the steps, they got the little girl with her mother. Subsequently, the girl was examined by paramedics who indicated that she was in good health and was immediately handed over to the person who has custody of her.

According to the New York police force, Paislee Shultis's legal guardian is the same guardian as her older sister's.

In the investigation work, the police visited the address on several occasions, but access was limited. Said residence is surrounded by security cameras, which kept its inhabitants informed who were near the house.

Kirk Shultis, her eponymous father (the girl's grandfather) and Kimberly Cooper were arrested on charges of child endangerment and interfering with child custody.

In a statement, the authorities reported that the investigation is ongoing and they do not rule out the possibility of new detainees.
