Fan pays tribute to Kobe Bryant and his daughter with a statue
So far there is no construction of the recreation of Bryant's death
This January 26 marks the two-year anniversary of the tragic accident that claimed the lives of Kobe Bryant, his daughter Gianna, and seven more people.
They were taking a routine trip to a basketball game, which turned into a fatal ending for the family and the “Mamba” team. The event that occurred in the city of Calabasas became part of the history of basketball worldwide.
The helicopter landing spot has become a source of tears for Kobe fans, who saw it as a true symbol.
A well-deserved tribute to the legend
Dan Medina is a fan sculptor of the Los Angeles Lakers star. This year he wanted to pay tribute by designing a statue of Kobe with his little girl, Gianna.
The statue decided to take it to the place where the helicopter fell, when it hit the ground violently, in commemoration of the two years of the event. This gesture has been applauded by many followers, but has also generated debate.
The tribute that Dan decided to offer to the legend, he wanted to do it temporarily, but not definitively. Fans, meanwhile, are insisting that a life-size statue be designed.
In statements, the authorities of the city of Calabasa assure that there is no project to place a permanent statue in the place.
In the same way, spokesmen for the Mountain Recreation Conservation Authority, in charge of supervising the site of the tragedy, indicated that there will be no permanent monument in place.
Offerings to Dan
The sculptor placed the statue at the scene of the incident, many fans came to the site as a pilgrimage.
Due to the reaction of the people, Dan offered to make a life-size statue, to pay tribute to the player. However, the proposal was rejected.
The sculptor assures that his idea is to attend the scene every year and bring his statue. This makes him feel for what Kobe Bryant made him feel in life, for his professional basketball career and in the NBA.
Kobe case trial
On February 22, the start of the trial for the lawsuit filed by Vanessa Bryant, Kobe's widow, will take place.
This complaint was made against the county of Los Angeles, due to the improper handling of the photographs of the accident by the police.
The strong images were shown at an awards gala and in bars, according to investigations.
