Giant wave destroyed ferry windows in Germany
A Ferry in the town of Hamburg, Germany crashed with a gigantic wave that hit the windows and broke them completely; The images soon went viral through social networks around the world.
This event was caused by the arrival of storm Ylenia, which hit several regions of Germany, where there was serious damage due to falling trees on houses and electrical cables, tidal waves and winds of up to 150 km/h.
Flights and trains were also canceled and, in parts of the Rhineland state, schools have had to close their doors as a precaution.
The images were captured by one of the passengers and you can clearly see how the wave shook the ferry as it moved on the Elbe River between Hamburg and Finkenwerde.
Due to what happened, only one person was slightly injured, according to the report of the corresponding authorities. In addition, it was learned through local media that the boat did not have navigation authorization until the storm passed.
Preventive measures
According to the forecasts for the next few days, Ylenia will hit the countries of Europe hard, which is why Germany has taken precautions to avoid further damage or that the safety of people is at risk.
For this reason, the German state railway company Deutsche Bahn suspended long-distance journeys in seven northern regions early on Thursday. The national airline, Lufthansa, and others canceled several flights due to the storm.
While in the northern state of North Rhine-Westphalia, the measure to suspend classes was taken. For this Friday another storm, named Zeynep, is expected to hit the European country.
