New York joins the states that eliminate the mandatory use of face masks
Citizens will be able to stop using the face mask in shops, public transport and private companies
Little by little, countries are lifting restrictions related to Covid-19. This is how in the United States the state governments have been letting go of the measures regarding the face mask.
Today, the governor of New York, Katy Hochul, reported at a press conference the elimination of the mandatory use of face masks in small public spaces.
He indicated that the measure comes into force as of today, so that the inhabitants of New York will be able to stop using the face mask in shops, public transport and private companies.
It should be noted that this obligation came to contemplate fines of up to a thousand dollars for non-compliance of the measures regarding to the use of face masks in cafes and restaurants.
Stockings taken in schools
Although the measure comes into force as of today, the official indicated that the obligation will remain in force on schools, at least until the start of the mid-winter vacations, which begin on February 21.
For his part, the mayor of the city of New York, Eric Adams, has not declared whether he will adhere to the measure, since they have the power to exercise their autonomy.
With this announcement, New York joins the states of California, Connecticut, Delaware, New Jersey and Oregon in softening the measures related to the use of face masks.
