North Korea, through a video, shows the launch of a new missile
Kim Jong-un shows in a Top Gun-type video, the launch of an intercontinental missile.

Featuring dramatic music and video effects, performers in leather jackets and much more, it was the video that Pyongyang broadcast Thursday on North Korean television. Certainly, the launch of the audiovisual material alarmed at the international level due to the presumed missile, since it is estimated that it has an intercontinental range.

Despite this, more impact has been the way in which the news was given to all of North Korea, a Hollywood-type video that was not expected at this time. Leader Kim Jong-un appeared in the video wearing a leather jacket.

It should be noted that North Korean television always broadcasts the Kim family and everything related to it, as well as military bands and videos of patriotism. That is why this audiovisual material, a little different from the usual, caused surprise both nationally and internationally.

Veteran news anchor Ri Chun-hee, known in the West as North Korea's "Pink Lady," also took part in the video, which began with Kim taking off dark glasses and saying, "Let's do this," as the missile was unveiled. Hwasong-17.

In social networks, users have already compared the video with the movie in which Tom Cruise participates, Top Gun, where the actor is the protagonist.

Another of the allusions was about the departure of Kim and his military generals from the international airport, they mentioned that it had a certain resemblance to the 1983 film The Right Stuff (in Spanish, entitled "The chosen ones of glory").

More about the video

The video has a message for North Koreans, due to the impact it caused in the very different way of presenting itself. North Korea is a restricted country in many areas, television programming is usually the same, so this sudden change could indicate a different vision.

In general, the audiovisual material tries to reaffirm North Korea's nuclear base, the missile was launched from Pyongyang's Sunan International Airport, 25 km from the capital. A dangerous act for some, since any failure would have been catastrophic for those surrounding that area.

On the other hand, the missile is a weapon of which Kim is very proud. The message seems to indicate that North Korea is prepared to attack anywhere in the world.

It is noteworthy that when the war with Ukraine is mentioned, Kim places the blame on Washington, so this striking video could be an alarm for the United States.
