The United States confirms that Daesh terrorist leader was killed
Joe Biden announced that the leader of Daesh has been eliminated, after an operation with US soldiers on Syrian territory.
US troops would have surrounded Abu Ibrahim al-Hashimi al-Qurayshi, nicknamed Hajji Abdullah, in a small town of Atmeh, the terrorist had led the Daesh group since 2019.
Using an explosive, Abu Ibrahim would have committed suicide, killing his family on the spot, including children, according to the White House report.
Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris commanded the operation from the White House crisis room, in direct communication with military personnel on site.
Joe Biden reported a month ago that they already had the whereabouts of Hajji Abdullah, and would have given the authorization to discharge him on Wednesday.
In his remarks, President Joe Biden confirmed last night that under his leadership of the US troops located in northwestern Syria, a successful operation was carried out for the protection of the United States and its allies.
He added that thanks to the courage of the United States armed forces, the terrorist Hajji Abdullah, who was the leader of ISIS, was discharged. He confirmed that there were no casualties in the US troops and they have returned safely.
John Kirby, in a statement prior to Biden's speech, had indicated that the US special forces operation had been a success.
Reportedly running the Pentagon, Hajji Abdullah was running all terrorist operations from Africa to Afghanistan.
The report sent by the armed forces indicated that the civilian casualties would have been those who died when Hajji Abdullah detonated the bomb. Previously, the special forces managed to evacuate eight children and other civilians who were used as a human shield.
Helicopters were used for the operation, one of which broke down, which led the US soldiers to destroy it to prevent escapes. In the 2011 operation, when Osama Bin Laden was killed, a similar incident occurred.
low popularity
Under Donald Trump in 2019, the United States killed the terrorist group's predecessor, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi. From that moment the ISIS group would have been weakened, and with less presence in the northwestern areas of Syria.
Only a small part of the US soldiers are deployed in that territory in a detachment that has been in place since Trump's mandate.
This operation is being launched just at a time when President Biden's popularity has fallen by more than 40% due to, among other problems, the withdrawal from Afghanistan.
In Afghanistan, US troops suffered a terrorist attack by ISIS in which 13 soldiers of the US armed forces were killed.
Idlib is currently territory controlled by Turkish soldiers, but it is also a strong point for Al Qaeda and Daesh. Several of its most prominent leaders reside in Idlib.
In different areas of Iraq and Syria, groups affiliated with Daesh have resurfaced for weeks. In January 100 soldiers of the terrorist group carried out an attack on a prison trying to free their soldiers .
The riot killed 200 inmates and 30 members of prison security in clashes during the foiled attack.
