Xiomara Castro takes power as the new President of Honduras
In Honduras, today the presidential act will be taking place in which Xiomara Castro will be officially designated as the new President of the nation.
The inauguration takes place in Tegucigalpa, Capital District of Honduras; to give the appointment to who will become the first female President of the Central American country.
The act takes place in the National Stadium of Tegucigalpa, in front of 29,000 people and among the personalities that will attend are: the Vice President of the United States, Kamala Harris, the vice president of Argentina, Cristina Kirchner and the King of Spain, Felipe VI.
With the new appointment of Castro, 12 years of conservative government come to an end, and the left returns to power, since it had ceased with the coup against Manuel Zelaya, husband of the current president.
With her new appointment to govern Honduras, the president assures that she will begin the search to eliminate the country from the social, political and financial crisis in which it is submerged.
Events prior to the inauguration
What happened on Thursday 01-26-2022, exactly one day before the official mention of Castro, has been pointed out as an "Institutional Crisis" due to a dispute between members of the party to which the new president belongs.

Who is Xiomara Castro?
At 62 years of age, she has a degree in Business Administration, and before entering the political world, she ran the family business of agricultural and livestock companies.
She is the wife of the ousted former president Manuel Zelaya, who was removed from office for trying to install a National Constituent Assembly, to draft a new constitution, repealing the 1982 one.
Castro's political career began as a militant in her husband Manuel Zelaya's party, and although it was thought that when he was overthrown, her spouse would move away from that world, quite the opposite happened.
Once her husband was removed from office in 2009, Castro led demonstrations in the Capital District, marking the beginning of the new Partido Libertar y Refundación, which was founded with her help in 2011.
After having previously run for president and not having won, in March 2021 she officially reaches the internal elections of her party and wins the candidacy for the presidency of Honduras.
