Morgan Freeman to Star in New History Series 'Great Escapes'
The new production of the ' History ' company will talk about the real cases of escapes in the most secure prisons in the world.
The series will be presented by the Oscar-winning actor ' Morgan Freeman', where the mysteries and details about the prisons of 'Alcatraz', 'San Quentin', among others, will be presented.
Among the first cases that we will be seeing in the first season are: 'El Chapo Guzmán', 'the Pittsburgh Six', 'the escape from Dannemora' and 'the escape from Alcatraz'.
Throughout the episodes, Morgan Freeman will talk about the escape strategies that inmates implement when escaping, analyzing the escape plans and the testimonies of the victims of the prisons will be shown.
' Great Escapes ' is categorized as a non-fiction series that will deal with events that occurred in the 21st century.
The Hollywood actor has starred in big roles in psychological thriller films and series, however, this will be the first time he has worked in a 'non-fiction' production.
About the production of 'Great Escapes' season 1
The new promise of History, which is called ' Great Escapes ' has become one of the most anticipated series in North America. On April 7, Freeman attended an interview with 'Variety' where he stated that the first season of the production will catch viewers from the first moment.
The main aspects that we will witness in the new series will be: ingenuity, intelligence, courage and audacity, of which the presenter will kiss to present his analysis.
During his interview, he was asked if he had no remorse for offering relevant information to inmates about escaping from cells. To which Morgan assured:
“You can't teach someone how to get out of a prison just by showing them. We are only analyzing and showing a focus on the cases, this does not mean that we are revealing secrets to get out of the cells”, sentenced ' Morgan Freeman ' before Variety.
The first season of the documentary will be broadcast in a dual format, where it can be seen via streaming and through its television channel at the same time.
It will be distributed in 20 episodes and each one will have a duration of 40 minutes per chapter. Deliveries will be made progressively on a weekly basis, premiering a new episode every Sunday.
Official synopsis of 'Great Escapes'
The plot of the documentary series will follow the real cases of the most dangerous convicts from around the world, who have managed to escape from the maximum security prisons of the United States.
Throughout each episode, details about the plans that the inmates implemented to escape will be revealed, showing what they did during each day, each week and each year to escape to the outside world.
It should be noted that the episodes are not canonical, this means that the episodes will not have a sequence and will present a different case each week.
The new docuseries, which will be part of the History portal, will present its pilot episode of season 1 on April 10, 2022.
In addition, the premiere will be accompanied by the 2 extra episodes that will be available on the streaming platform.
