What is a cerebral edema?

A cerebral edema consists in the piling up of fluid inside the brain cells, generating a growth of intracranial pressure. This disorder can occur in people of any age and under any type of health distinction.
In case of suffering it requires urgent medical assistance, since it entails quite serious consequences both in the short and long term, to the point of causing the death of the patient.
According to the area of the brain that is affected, cerebral edema is classified into: vasogenic edema, cytotoxic edema and hydrocephalic edema.
