What is prophylactic mastectomy? It is a surgical process, where the healthy mammary glands are removed. Prophylactic mastectomy, it is done in order to prevent the development of cancerous tumors in this tissue. Thanks to this process, it is possible to reduce the appearance of breast cancer by 90 or 95%.
It is important to note that this procedure where all or most of the breast tissue is removed, it should be done in healthy women. However, although it is a good way to prevent the onset of this disease, there is still a small concert of risk to develop it.
As usual, it is a process that is recommended in women with the mutated BRCA gene because they have a higher risk of breast cancer.
