How to make a German dessert for Christmas in a few minutes?
This preparation takes time, since you have to go through several stages before completely assembling the dessert. Although it seems very long, we have done the step by step so that everything is perfectly.
For the filling
To begin, you must let the nuts marinate in the rum from the night before preparing the nuts.
They should preferably be rolled or chopped into small pieces. You can then buy them rolled or fresh, and then you take care of chopping them.
After a good night's soaking, place the flour in a pot with the milk.
Let it cook for a few minutes over low heat and stir constantly, so it doesn't stick.
The mixture should take on a thicker texture. When it has turned into mush it is time to remove it from the heat.
Now, transfer it to a plastic container, cover it and wait for it to cool for a few minutes.
For the mass
While the milk cools, we will prepare the dough.
Now for this you must start by crushing the spices. Take a container so that you add the salt, flour and yeast together with the freshly ground spices.
Then add the eggs and the flour milk mixture when it has completely cooled.
Because it contains milk, I do not recommend that you put it in the fridge to cool down, since the change in temperature can reduce the shelf life of the dessert. Failing that, a water bath with gall or.
When everything is well mixed, wait about 10 minutes for the yeast to act.
At the end of the time, add the butter little by little at room temperature.
To integrate it, I recommend that you knead, and advance when each part has been well integrated.
When the dough allows you to make balls, we will take them to a container, cover it with a cloth. They will be ready when they have grown twice in size.
Now, it is time to integrate only the fruits, almonds and raisins that were soaked. Mix well so that they are distributed throughout the dough.
Then, flatten the dough into a rectangle. Cut them in half and place one lid on top of another, roll up and knead even a little more. With this you will achieve that the filling is better distributed.
When finished kneading, chop the dough into 2 identical parts. Each part should take the shape of an oval or something similar.
Then, make a longitudinal mark to divide the oval into two parts, one slightly larger than the other.
Prepare two ovenproof trays and cover with parchment paper.
We make the smallest part towards the largest one and fold the dough through the slit made. This we must do with the other portion of dough.
Place the dough on the trays, sprinkle a little flour, cover with transparent paper and wait for it to ferment completely and grow a little more.
While this is happening, preheat the oven to 200 °C.
When the dough has risen, take it to the oven for 30 minutes.
Do the toothpick test. When it is indicated, take them out and take them to a slit with a new sheet of baking paper and let them cool naturally.
To decorate and serve
When the stollen have come out, or you will have to place a little melted butter with a brush. Repeat the process when cool and sprinkle with icing sugar.
Then, wrap the loaves in tightly fitting transparent paper with a roll and reserve until serving time. And ready! A delicious German dessert to enjoy at Christmas.
This will keep it compact and cuttable. To serve you can place it on a chopped tray so that everyone can take a portion.
You can incorporate the slices on a plate with other sweets. Or let everyone take the piece they want.
If you want to establish a new tradition, try something different or remember typical German dishes, this stollen or German dessert for Christmas is one of the best options you can get.
Go ahead and prepare them and share your experience with your loved ones. They will surely want to know how you have done to prepare such a delicious dish.
