Hurricane Barry hits Louisiana in the United States

The now Hurricane Barry arrives with sustained winds of 120 kilometers in Louisiana. In the next few hours it will reach west of Morgan City, where heavy rains and storm surge may cause flooding.

According to information agencies and the National Hurricane Center, tropical storm Barry is now a category 1 hurricane on the Saffir/Simpson scale, which requires raising alerts due to strong tidal waves. West of Morgan City, the hurricane is expected to make landfall and begin to downgrade, in this case becoming a tropical storm again.

The National Hurricane Center gave warning to the populations near the north of the Gulf of Mexico to remain alert in the face of heavy rains. The army, who is in charge of the evacuation of civilians, deployed all its men to secure the area and avoid unnecessary risks.

Generally, during the arrival of hurricanes, some thieves take advantage of the moment to loot, which poses a security risk. This is always controlled by the authorities, who deploy an entire operation, so that natural disasters do not get worse with looting.

In Plaquemines, a little more than 10,000 people were evacuated, out of concern that the river could get out of control and flood the entire population. The New Orleans International Airport operated normally until a few hours ago, but it has already canceled many flights. News that was not well-received by people who hoped to leave before the arrival of the hurricane in the city.

While the collection centers already have food and fuel to overcome this natural event, many fears that what happened in 2005 will happen again, although Hurricane Barry is not of the same category.

News in development.
