How to prepare the traditional chocolate marquise?
One of the most coveted desserts especially for its flavor is the chocolate marquise, whose main characteristic is that it is very easy to prepare.
It is so much so that it is one of the essentials in Christmas desserts, which can be accompanied by a black cake that is also traditional.
However, as we briefly mentioned, what makes it the ideal dessert is that it can be prepared from just a few ingredients.
What should we take into account before preparing marquise?
Another of the characteristics of the marquise is that it is a dessert that can be prepared in different ways, opting for the simplest or one that requires more effort. However, neither requires you to be a master pastry chef.
The simplest way
The easiest way to prepare marquise is to buy commercial pudding at the nearest store, which can be boxed or sachet. It is a mixture that is already prepared so that you only put it to boil with milk.
Of course, it is important that you are constantly mixing it so that it does not burn or stick to the bottom.
In this simple way we will obtain a consistent pudding ready to pour over the container of our choice.
The advantage is that you can get different flavors of pudding and thus make a marquise of up to three flavors: strawberry, chocolate and vanilla. It may be a different option than the traditional one that is only made of cocoa.
A more complicated process
There are other people who choose to prepare marquise in a way that requires more ingredients, completely skipping the commercial pudding.
For this, the presence of cornstarch is essential, which will be responsible for giving the necessary consistency to the mixture.
There are many who say that this way of preparing it is much more gratifying to the palate than opting for commercial pudding. And it is clearly due to the lack of presence of any other chemical type that may come in the products of boxes or envelopes.
In essence, what is achieved is a much more natural flavor, where an intense cocoa powder is chosen that will give a greater enhancement to the chocolate.
Definitely
Each of the ways will depend on the preferences of the person, but there is no doubt that through both, great results are obtained. And, most importantly, none is as difficult as it seems, allowing us to make a chocolate marquise in just over an hour.
Learn about the preparation for each of the methods for the Marchioness
Although you want to prepare it to kill your sweet tooth, or to accompany that long-awaited Christmas dinner, the marquise is the ideal dessert for any occasion. For each method, we will show you below everything you need as well as its preparation.
With commercial pudding
For those who love how easy they choose to purchase commercial pudding boxes, the procedure will be much simpler. Next we will tell you what you need:
3 boxes of commercial pudding (it can be any flavor you want).
Liquid milk (the amount will depend on the pudding box).
2 packages of Maria cookies.
As you can see, you don't need much else when you choose commercial pudding boxes. Now, what comes is to join the liquid milk together with the pudding to heat, regardless of the flavor.
Once the mixture is poured, we must constantly stir it to prevent it from sticking in depth or burning.
We will know when it is ready when it becomes a thicker substance, as well as air bubbles begin to form.
At this point, we remove from the heat and let the mixture set aside. While it cools, in a container we will pour a cup of liquid milk which we will use to soak the Maria cookies.
Now we only have to look for the container where we will put the pudding and cookies together to form our chocolate marquise.
For the final step it is very simple, we will start by pouring a layer of the pudding mixture, and later we will place the cookies soaked in milk on top.
We will repeat this process until we have used all the pudding prepared. Finally, we will place the container in a refrigerator so that it cools down and is ready to kill the sweet tooth.
With cocoa powder
Through this procedure, we will have total control of the final flavor of the marquise, in addition to being used only for the chocolate ones.
Indeed, cocoa powder, in terms of flavor, has a sea of difference with respect to commercial chocolate puddings. But, for its transformation into pudding, the presence of other ingredients is necessary, especially cornstarch, in addition to:
Half cup water.
Half a cup of cornstarch.
3 cups of milk.
A quarter of espresso.
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon.
4 egg yolks.
1 cup and a quarter of sugar.
A quarter of butter with salt.
2 packages of Maria cookies.
Half a cup of cocoa powder.
To begin with the preparation of the pudding for the chocolate marquise, we will start by boiling the water for about 20 seconds in a microwave. In it, we will dilute the cornstarch until we get a completely homogeneous mixture.
In a pot we will include two cups of milk, the espresso, the cinnamon, the 4 egg yolks, the sugar as well as the butter. With a medium heat we will take care of constantly stirring the mixture until the butter melts completely.
Once it has melted, it is time to add the cocoa powder. Preferably we should include it with a strainer to sift it so that with the blender there is no lump.
Now we only have, still with medium heat, add the mixture of water with cornstarch. It is important that one of the essential steps is to constantly stir the pudding to prevent it from sticking or burning. It generally takes between 4 and 6 minutes.
Finally, with the remaining milk, we can only soak the cookies to soften them. Then, in our container, we will pour the first layer of chocolate marquise pudding that we will continue with the soaked cookies.
So we will repeat this process until the mixture is finished, and we have our container up to the top.
To finish, we will only put it to cool in the fridge until the chocolate marquise is ready to eat.
