Homemade yogurt, an easy and delicious recipe
Yogurt is a food rich in nutrients, contains beneficial proteins for humans, is made from fermented milk, and is even more digestible than whole milk.
It contains a range of specific latica bacteria that cause its creamy texture and provide vitamins of group B and A. It is also a source of minerals such as calcium, phosphorus, magnesium and zinc.
It is the basis for many nutritious recipes, since it can also be added in the preparation of creams for pasta, desserts, cereals and even consumed alone.
Thanks to its properties, it is enormously versatile and, if that were not enough, it is an excellent probiotic that helps the symptoms of lactose intolerance, helping to restore the intestinal flora.
To create that yogurt you want to eat, with the ideal touch of sugar and that adapts to your needs, so easy and simple, here we explain how.
Yogurt maker?
The easiest way to make our homemade yogurt is with a yogurt maker, this is an efficient and simple to use tool to make yogurt.
It is made up of a base that heats glass jars and a plastic lid, this keeps our yogurt mix warm for approximately eight hours, depending on the model and the desired consistency for the yogurts.
It is an ideal instrument for this recipe and if you plan to make these delicious yogurts frequently.
But if you don't have it, don't worry, we have a way for you to prepare our recipe without a yogurt maker so that we can all enjoy these delicious and healthy yogurts.
What do we need?
A container that is large enough to allow a distance of at least three fingers between our mixture and the surface of the container.
If our container does not have a lid, we can use plastic wrap.
A plastic bag.
A thick cloth that can wrap our container.
Clean our container or containers very well. We recommend previously disinfecting the jars with boiling water to remove any possible impurities in them.
Ingredients
1 liter of milk, or if you want a thicker consistency you can use only half a liter of the milk of your choice.
1 yogurt or, failing that, the bacteria in yogurt that you can find in a pharmacy or specialized center, preferably if it is a commercial yogurt, which is unflavored.
Preparation
It is very easy, you just have to:
Heat the liter of milk at about 40 degrees, it must be warm, we do not want it to boil.
Add the yogurt and integrate very well.
If you want to sweeten it at this time, you can add sugar, honey or artificial sweetener of your choice and in the amount you want.
If you have a yogurt maker, you just have to empty the mixture into the containers, cover them and program your yogurt maker for 8 to 10 hours depending on the brand and how you want the texture of your yogurts, the more time they spend in the yogurt maker, the denser they will be.
If you do not have a yogurt maker, then it is necessary to pour the yogurt into containers, and choose a place where the mixture can rest with constant heat.
During the same time that it would with the yogurt maker, that is, from 8 to 12 hours depending on the intensity of the heat.
This can be achieved by wrapping the container with a thick cloth, and then with the bag that we mentioned above so that it conserves the heat and placing it in the oven off or a cabinet that keeps the environment dry and allows the bacteria in our yogurt to activate.
Another alternative is to heat water in a pressure cooker until it boils, then empty the water and introduce our containers, cover it and keep it in a warm place for 8 to 12 hours.
This is how easy it is to prepare this delicious recipe, when the yogurts are ready they must be kept refrigerated so that they maintain their properties and their delicious flavor.
These can be kept in good condition for about 7 days, and can be accompanied by cereals, fruits, or toppings of your choice.
This recipe as well as the yogurt can be adapted just to what you want, it is flexible, in case you want a particular flavor in the yogurts this can be added either after preparation or within it with a flavoring of your choice.
