What is esophageal cancer?
The esophagus is the tube that carries food and liquids from the throat to the stomach. Esophageal cancer arises when the cells of the body begin to grow uncontrollably.
This cancer in its early stages usually does not cause symptoms, once advanced can cause pain or difficulty swallowing, weight loss, hoarse voice or cough that does not stop.
A person has a higher risk of getting esophageal cancer if they smoke or drink a lot of alcohol. Or you have a lot of stomach acid reflux. This risk increases with the years.
