Breaking iOS 16 leaks
Content
Devices outside the iOS 16 update list.
List of updates for iPads.
There were very important leaks about iOS 16, the new operating system that Apple in its summer 2022 developer conference, there is still a lot to do.
But there is always curiosity to know which devices are going to be on this compatibility list for this new system. This information comes from iPhone Soft, a French medium that on previous occasions already hit the list of compatible devices for iOS 13 and iOS 14, but not from iOS 15.
An operating system that surprised everyone, because it did something unprecedented until now, and it was to repeat the same list of compatible devices from the previous version. In other words, the same devices that were compatible in iOS 14 have been compatible with iOS 15.
Devices outside the iOS 16 update list
All iPhones, from iPhone 7 onwards, will be compatible with iOS 16. The previous ones are not, that is, the iPhones 6S, 6S plus and the iPhone SE of 2016, are the ones that will be out of the list of updates of the iOS 16.
Now, this does not indicate that you will not receive security updates, such as security patches and such.
Which is not bad at all, because iOS 14 had a list of devices that included the iPhone 6S, and iOS 15 repeated that list in a new way. Because in iOS 15 the iPhone 6S was expected to be left out.
But it has had an extra year than expected, and we are talking about the iPhone 6S and iPhone SE, are devices that for the year they were released, have had more than 6 years of updates.
There is no company at this time that guarantees so much update support.
List of updates for iPads
The iPad that will be compatible are: from the iPad Mini 5, iPad Air 3, iPad sixth generation and the iPad Pro of 2016.
But those that are left out of the list of iOS 16 updates are: iPad Mini 4, iPad Air 2, fifth generation iPad and the 9.7 and 12.9-inch iPad Pro of 2015. These are teams that will not mount iPadOS 16.
We will see if they are worth it, because iPadOS in recent years has been very conservative in its updates and I hope that in this new version, they will recover a little that path that they marked with the first versions that separated the iPad a little more from the iPhone.
As for news, nothing has been leaked yet. These tend to leak in the spring, so we still have to wait a bit.
Although knowing Apple's plans in these coming seasons, we dare to say that virtual reality and augmented reality will have an important weight in this new version.
