Tips for preparing ham bread:

  • It is important to have the ingredients and utensils available to our hands when making your recipe. You should also have the baking sheets already greased with margarine.

  • Prepare 1 egg in a container with a tablespoon of powdered milk, this will cause an intense golden color in your breads.

  • For the filling you can add other ingredients such as cream cheese, tomato paste, yellow cheese among others.

  • If our bread begins to toast too much at the top, it is recommended that you cover it with a kitchen aluminum foil, because it is important that it cooks exactly 36 minutes.

  • You can be very creative when preparing the ham bread, adding other fillings, as long as you do not substitute the smoked ham.

  • If you wish, you can work the dough with a machine, but its duration should be 15 minutes of kneading at a medium speed until it has a homogeneous consistency.

Preparation of the ham bread recipe:

Note: Due to the length of its preparation, we will divide it into three parts.

For the mass:

  1. To prepare the dough, mix the wheat flour with the yeast, salt, and sugar in a large bowl. Then we add the two eggs, the margarine and the warm milk.

  2. We work the dough with the tips of our fingers and the lower part of the palm of our hands, until we get a homogeneous dough.

  3. We place the dough in a container greased with margarine, cover it with a clean kitchen towel and let it rest until it doubles in volume.

Preparation of the ham bread:

  1. We divide the dough in two, roll out our dough to give it a rectangular shape.

  2. We add melted margarine to the surface of our stretched dough.

  3. We start by placing the olives on the side of our dough in an aligned way then we spread the raisins throughout the dough. Next we add the smoked ham and the bacon.

  4. We roll our dough, starting from the side where we place our olives.

  5. Repeat the same procedure with the other remaining dough.

  6. You must open small holes with a fork your two prepared ham loaves, so that it has a better cooking inside.

  7. Cover your two prepared ham loaves with a clean kitchen towel and let it rest for 40 minutes.

Baking the ham bread:

  1. When our bread has an adequate volume, we preheat our oven to a temperature of approximately 200 degrees Celsius.

  2. We introduce our breads and lower the oven temperature to 180 degrees Celsius for 18 minutes.

  3. We remove our loaves and we open other small holes with the fork, we add beaten egg to give it a better color and we introduce.

  4. We wait approximately 18 minutes and remove our loaves from the oven. Let it cool down.

  5. To serve, chop the ham bread into slices 2 to 3 centimeters thick.
