Steps for the elaboration

Note: We will divide the process into several parts.

Preparation of the dough

  1. Place the butter at room temperature, the sugar and the orange zest in the bowl of the blender.

  2. Turn the mixer on to medium speed and beat for about 5 minutes or until the mixture is creamier. It is very important to beat the butter well so that the rest of the ingredients are well integrated later.

  3. Once you have the mixture ready, in a separate bowl beat the eggs a little with a fork and add half of the beaten eggs and continue beating. Make sure to beat this mixture well before adding the rest of the beaten egg.

  4. When everything is well integrated, with the help of a strainer, sift the flour, ground cinnamon and baking powder. Then add the pinch of salt.

  5. Beat for a while by hand to integrate the dry ingredients a little and when you see that they are more or less incorporated, place in the mixer at the lowest speed you can.

  6. Beat for a few seconds and add the milk. Once this is done, beat a few more seconds until everything is perfectly integrated.

  7. Pour the mixture with the help of a spoon into the baking molds, previously placing the respective cups.

Baking the cupcakes

  1. Bake in an oven preheated to 180 degrees C, preferably with heat up and down and without a fan for 20 minutes or until you prick the cake with a toothpick, and it comes out without dough.

  2. Take the muffins out of the oven and let them rest for 5 minutes in the same tray on a rack at room temperature.

  3. After five minutes, you can remove the cupcakes from the tray and leave them directly on the rack until they cool completely.

Preparation of the buttercream

  1. Start by placing the butter at room temperature in the bowl of the mixer and beat on medium high speed for 4 minutes.

  2. Once the mixing time has passed, add the icing sugar with a strainer, sifting over the mixture to dissolve any lumps that may have been created in the sugar.

  3. Once this is done, beat for a while with your hand to integrate a little the sugar so that it does not fly away when you turn on the mixer. Then turn the mixer back on to medium high speed for an additional four minutes.

  4. Add the cold cream cheese spread and beat for a minute on medium high speed. Now add the orange blossom water and beat for another minute. Although, if you want, you can substitute this flavor for any other aroma or essence of your choice.

  5. Add a few drops of the artificial food coloring (optional). Beat a few more seconds so that the color is homogeneous throughout the mixture.

Decorating the cupcakes

  1. Place the buttercream mixture in the piping bag. Press well so you don't leave air bubbles inside and close your piping bag.

  2. Place an open star nozzle specifically, the 1 m of the brand of your choice, but that simulates a Christmas wreath.

  3. To make the Christmas wreath, just go by making little rosettes. Four rosettes on each one will suffice.

  4. Once you're done, place your favorite edible Christmas decorations on top of the wreath to make it look pretty and well-decorated for presentation. If you like, you can use candy canes, Christmas cookies, fondant decorations, sugar candies, among others.

  5. Prepare a bow made of fondant but with a Christmas design, or a Christmas fabric bow, and attach a flower hook or wire and prick one of the cupcakes with it. In this way, the bow will not move, and the crown will be perfect.
