Oscar Awards 2022: proof of vaccination will be required from nominees
The Oscars have announced their new norm for this year's edition
Due to the health regulations due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all nominees and guests attending the ceremony must present their vaccination certificate against the virus and show at least two negative COVID-19 tests.
The ceremony will take place on March 27, at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles,
According to the US media, the requirements will be applied to the nominees for the awards and to their guests and companions. However, the presenters and those who perform at the gala will not be required to present their vaccination certificate, but will be subject to "rigorous" measures.
A source from the ceremony explained to the media that this decision not to require proof of vaccination for some members of the gala is based on a return-to-work agreement between the Alliance of Film and Television Producers and unions.
Said agreement gives producers the authority to demand vaccination from production teams and those who work in close proximity to the actors, but it is not mandatory to comply with this requirement.
With a lower figure than usual (3,300 attendees) in past editions, this year the Dolby Theater will receive a total of 2,500 nominees and guests.
The nominees and guests who will be seated in the orchestra and parterre areas will not be required to wear a mask. However, those who have to sit on the mezzanine may have to wear a mask due to the close distance between seats.
Mandatory mask in Los Angeles
Until now, in Los Angeles, the use of face masks indoors is still mandatory. Although it is estimated that this measure will be revoked in March, it is not known exactly if it will be before the Oscars.
Those in charge of directing the 94th edition of the Academy Awards in Hollywood will be the actresses Wanda Sykes, Regina Halla and Ame Schumer.
This gala will feature a special award where the public will be able to choose their favorite movie and scene of the year via Twitter.
The great adulated film 'The power of the Dog' is considered the favorite on the eve of the Oscar gala with 12 nominations, followed by 'Dune' with 10 nominations and 'Belfast' a feature film directed by Kenneth Branagh with 7 nominations.
This ceremony has an important Spanish presence with four nominated artists: Javier Bardem nominated for best actor for 'Ser los Ricardo', Penélope Cruz, opting for best actress for 'Parallel Mothers', Alberto Mielgo for his animated short film 'The Windshield Wiper' and Alberto Iglesias, aspiring to win the award for best soundtrack for 'Parallel Mothers'.
