Brazil will grant temporary visas to digital nomads
In order to respond to a global trend, the Brazilian National Immigration Council will grant temporary visas to remote workers.
In accordance with the new law established by the National Immigration Council, hand in hand with the Ministry of Justice and Public Security, all those who carry out remote work and wish to enter the country will be received.
The purpose of this new law is to facilitate the stay in Brazil, for all those who wish to enter the tropical country, either for tourist or sentimental reasons, as long as they can fully present the support of their remote jobs.
Conditions for granting the visa
In addition to showing that they work freelance, they must show that they do not have any contract with any company in the country, and that they carry out work for foreign organizations.
For this reason, they must present a remote work contract, and a guarantee that their income is more than $1,500, or if their fees are not, they must have around $18,000 in their bank account.
They will also be asked for life insurance that is accepted in Brazil, and as usual to enter a country, the criminal record of the country of origin.
In the event that the person qualifies for the visa, it will be granted for one year, and in turn will be appeasable for the same time.
Why to grant the visa
According to José Vicente Santini, the national secretary of the Ministry of Justice; Remote employees worldwide are a trend, so promoting this in the country generates a response from tourists and rental income to the Latin American giant.
He assured that "the remuneration of digital nomads comes from abroad, and the resources brought by these immigrants move the national economy."
He also emphasized that the country must be one of the first to promote and influence one of the most modern work models today.
What are digital nomads?
They are all those people who work from the comfort of their computer, or better known as working from home, or from anywhere they are connected to their work.
Many of these people who carry out this work are masters of their own time, however, there is a high number of those who meet schedules as in any working day.
In the case of Brazil, until February 2020, more than 7 million people worked from home, figures that are equivalent to approximately 9% of 100% of Brazilian workers.
Why are they considered digital nomads?
Nomad is considered a person who goes from one place to another without settling in a permanent place, his entire lifestyle is previously conditioned to be removable and practical when moving from one place to another.
