California shooting leaves six dead and more than a dozen injured
Dandre Martin, 26, was arrested for illegal possession of a firearm and assault, and identified as one of the possible shooters.
Early on Sunday, April 3, a shooting took place in downtown Sacramento, California ; event that was confirmed by the city police department.
The incident occurred in the area of bars and restaurants, adjacent to the Golden 1 Center pavilion, where the Sacramento Kings NBA basketball team plays.
Witnesses to the shooting stated that the attack originated after a fight, leaving six (6) people dead and more than 15 injured.
Sacramento Police Chief Katherine Lester said the attack occurred around 2:00 a.m. and was carried out by multiple shooters. In addition, he noted that they are determining whether the shots were fired at random or produced directly against those affected.
Who are the victims of the Sacramento shooting?
The fatal victims of the shooting that occurred near 10th and K streets in the city center, turned out to be three (3) men and three (3) women.
The males were identified as De'Vazia Turner (29 years old) of Carmichael, Joshua Hoye-Lucchesi (32 years old) of Salinas and Sergio Harris (38 years old) of North Highlands.
While the females would be Johntaya Alexander (21 years old) from Selma Fresno County, Yamile Martínez-Andrade (21 years old) and Melinda Davis (57 years old), both from Elk Grove.
Request help to find those responsible for the shooting
Although the investigations yielded a possible suspect, identified as Dandre Martin, 26, who was arrested for illegal possession of a weapon and assault; from the local police force of Sacramento they have asked the citizen to collaborate with any information they have seen or captured on video, which leads to finding those responsible.
The local police chief pointed out that they would have recovered a firearm from the scene, of which they have not specified the caliber and assured that more than 100 bullet casings had been counted.

The mayor of Sacramento, Darrell Steinberg, posted through his Twitter account that he could not put into words the shock and sadness, "The figures of deaths and injuries are difficult to understand."
In addition, he stressed that "The increase in armed violence is the scourge of our city, state and nation, and I support all actions to reduce it."
For his part, the Governor of California, Gavin Newsom, also spoke through said social network, publishing a statement highlighting that, "We cannot continue to allow armed violence to be the new normal."
Likewise, the president of the United States, Joe Biden, stated that “We must do more than cry, we must act.”
In this sense, the president of the United States asked the Congress of the nation to legislate on the prohibition of "ghost weapons" and background checks when selling firearms.
